The General Manager of Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan has reiterated the need for seamless Intelligence sharing as a panacea for stemming the security threat facing the country at the moment.

He made this known during a paper presentation to the students of Snr course 44 of the armed forces command and staff college (AFCSC) Jaji, Kaduna state who are on a study tour of Lagos State.

Oyekan said the role  of community policing in improving socio-economic development of Lagos State can not be over emphasized and thanked the governor of Lagos State for recognizing the fact in his provision of working tools and amiable working environment for the security apparatuses in Lagos State.

Oyekan stated further that intelligence gathering is key to the security of any community in a state, stressing further that the agency with the disposition of the Lagos State Government led by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently produced a 250 page intelligence report on abandoned buildings in the state to the government for prompt action. 

According to him, it is high time Lagos State takes over abandoned buildings because intelligence report gathered show that abandoned buildings that are scattered all over harbors criminals and this is dangerous to the socio economic development of the state. 

The people in every community across the globe are at the epicenter of all activities and must show significant concern and take positive steps to ensure that economic activities thrive. For a community to thrive, responsibilities must be shared which is key to community policing thereby creating constant interaction to foster cooperation and collaboration and there must be mutual respect for the ideals and cultures of the people of the communities.

The programme which is hosted by Lagos State and organized by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government is to showcase Lagos State as a security consious state and have the apparatus to thrive globally in terms of security.
