LNSA INAUGURATE ANTI HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UNIT.
The Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency has inaugurated it's Anti Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence Unit.
The inauguration of the Unit was conducted by the General Manager of the Agency, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan in the presence of Representatives of the European Union- Ms Eleni Zerzelidou, Expertise France- Ms Adewunmi Abimbola and the Director General of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons- NAPTIP represented by the Lagos sector Commander, Mr Ganiyu Agaran.
The European Union representative on Human Trafficking, Ms Eleni Zerzelidoui commended the General Manager of the LNSA for his drive and commitment. In her words, "the GM is a far difference from most of the people in his shoes that I have met. Most of the time, they are aloof and drag their feet on matters that deserve dispatch but alas, Oyekan doesn't".
She said the dispatch in the response of the LNSA to the creation of the unit as promised by the Ifalade less than a month after making the pledge is encouraging and she promised the full cooperation of the EU in seeing the Unit thrive.
The representative of the Expertise France, Ms Adewunmi on behalf of the development partner said they are committed to seeing the Unit and the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency thrive. She further commended the Agency management for managing the Corp professionally as she was also full of praises for the Officers who she described as always enthusiastic.
The Director General of National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons represented by the Lagos sector Commander commended the LNSA for the role of it's officers in keeping Lagos safe while he pointed out that the cooperation and collaboration of all Law Enforcement Agencies is key to the safety of the society.
He further said the decision to bring along the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency into the existing collaboration among all security Agencies on the issue of human trafficking is commendable, while the immediacy in the response of the LNSA is legendary. He also promised that NAPTIP will provide support to the LNSA and its officers in it's area of core competence.
While inaugurating the Unit, Prince Ifalade Oyekan said, the LNSA is committed to ensuring the attainment of the sixth pillar of Mr Governor's THEMES Agenda as it matches towards the greater Lagos vision.
He also charged the Officers selected to champion the work of the Unit to create legacies that future Officers who will serve in the unit can emulate.
Oyekan pointed out that the Agency is redefining and restructuring all it's structure for it to provide more quality services to the people of Lagos State.
