The Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele has promised to raise the synergy with the operatives of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency (LNSA).
While speaking during his visit to the Headquarters of the Agency at Bolade, Oshodi, CSP Akerele said he wants to work with the LNSA as a team as he believes the synergy will result in successful outputs.
He described the Taskforce as the backbone of the Lagos State security architecture as it provides Armed support to the unarmed law enforcement agencies operating in the State, while he also said his appointment is a return to base as he had previously served as 2ic to CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi during his sojourn as the Chairman of the Taskforce.
He further noted that the Lagos State Government motive for putting all the Agencies under one roof in the Multi-Agency Complex is not for the fun of it.
In his response, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan fsin said, "your (the CSP) success is my success because we have a common goal.. for Lagos to be safer".
Prince Oyekan also said, LNSA have a standing approval from Mr. Governor to learn on the job from the Lagos State Taskforce and other similar Agencies operating in the State and beyond.
The General Manager said the role of the Agency is to provide credible intelligence and provide pro-active mitigation services to the people of Lagos State. "That is why we submit our intelligence report to the CP on a weekly basis to keep up with the crime trends."
He looked forward to a situation where the Taskforce will give armed support to the surveillance teams of the LNSC when they go on monitoring, especially of creeks as the LNSA is set to flag off the Marine Corps of it's operations.
He said it is important to carry the Taskforce along in most of its operations as the Agency is expected to handover suspects apprehended to the Police. He believes this will cut the red tape that often hinders the Agency's work.
Oyekan saluted the Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for always finding the right pegs for the right hole as he believes that the new Chairman comes with a lot of experience which he says will enhance the operations of the two Agencies.
